Police charge woman after arson attack

Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad have today charged a woman following an alleged arson attack in Shepparton earlier this month.

A 33-year-old Shepparton woman has been charged with attempted murder, intentionally cause serious injury in circumstances of gross violence and intentionally cause serious injury.

She will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 31 January.

The charges follow an incident on Tuesday, 16 January where it will be alleged a woman threw a flammable substance over another woman and ignited it.

A 20-year-old Shepparton woman was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 33-year-old Shepperton woman was also conveyed to hospital where she remained under police guard.

Police believe the parties involved are known to each other.
