Police charge woman after Melbourne CBD stabbing and attempted armed robbery incidents

Melbourne Embona detectives have charged a 28-year-old Morwell woman following alleged stabbings and attempted armed robberies in Melbourne's CBD on Thursday 8 September.

Emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing during an attempted armed robbery at the intersection of Flinders and Downie streets about 5pm.

Another alleged stabbing and attempted armed robbery, occurred near the intersection of Flinders and Spencer streets a short time later.

The victims, a man and a woman, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe there were at least four other attempted armed robberies in the area that may be linked to the stabbing incidents.

The 28-year-old Morewell woman has been charged with 16 offences, including attempted armed robbery, intentionally and recklessly causing injury and bail offences.

She has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.
