The Lott is proud to announce a $300,000 donation from Golden Casket unclaimed prize money to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, helping the organisation continue its vital work protecting children and educating communities across Australia.
The contribution comes as the Foundation marks the 22nd annual Day for Daniel, Australia's largest child safety education and awareness event. This year also marks eight years of support from The Lott, taking our total contribution to more than $2.5 million.
For more than two decades, the Daniel Morcombe Foundation has empowered children, families and communities with the knowledge and confidence to recognise unsafe situations, seek help and speak up.
Through its extensive range of free child safety resources, school education programs and community initiatives, the Foundation continues to equip Australian children with the skills they need to stay safe.
From practical educational resources and classroom activities to workshops and online tools, the Foundation reaches thousands of children, parents, carers and educators every year, helping start important conversations about personal safety and creating safer communities for children across the country.
This year marks a new chapter for Day for Daniel. After 21 years, the local Walk for Daniel in Palmwoods has been paused, with the Foundation introducing parkwalk for Daniel in partnership with parkrun Australia.
Taking place on Saturday 31 October, parkwalk for Daniel will bring together volunteers, walkers and runners of all ages to wear red for Daniel and celebrate his legacy in a fun, family-focused way. The initiative will help elevate the Foundation's child safety message in communities nationwide.
Bruce and Denise Morcombe said the ongoing support from The Lott has helped the Foundation continue delivering education programs to Australian families.
"The Lott's incredible generosity has helped us continue creating free educational resources so we can keep young people safe," Bruce and Denise said.
"For 22 years the Daniel Morcombe Foundation has cut through barriers and tackled challenges others thought were too difficult. Together, we've helped millions of young Australians learn vital child safety skills, and we remain committed to ensuring children and families have access to the education and support they need."
The Lott's Partnerships Manager, Liz McPherson, said the Foundation's impact continues to grow while remaining focused on its mission of keeping children safe.
"The Daniel Morcombe Foundation has become a trusted leader in child safety education, and we're incredibly proud to support its work," she said.
"Whether it's through the resources provided to schools and families, Day for Daniel activities, or new initiatives like parkwalk for Daniel, the Foundation continues to find meaningful ways to engage communities and help keep Australian children safe."
Our commitment to child safety extends beyond Day for Daniel. For more than a decade, we've supported the Amber Alert system, helping distribute urgent messages about abducted or high-risk missing children through lottery terminals in our outlets. With work underway to expand the initiative into additional jurisdictions, we're continuing to support efforts that help protect Australian children and reunite families.
