Monday 30 November will be the last day of our temporary soft plastics drop-off points at Kew Depot and Boroondara Recycling and Waste Centre.
We introduced this temporary drop-off points recycling service in 2023 when the REDCycle program collapsed, pausing the drop-off points at supermarkets.
Thank you to the Boroondara residents who used these drop-off points to continue to recycle your soft plastics.
Now that soft plastic recycling collection points have been re-established at many supermarkets, it's time to end our temporary service. We encourage you to start using the supermarket drop-off points near you.
From 1 December, we will no longer be accepting soft plastics at our Council depots.
New recycling option on the way
In January 2027, we'll be introducing a new recycling option in place of the soft plastics bins at the Boroondara Recycling and Waste Centre in Camberwell.
You'll be able to drop off broken and old plastic plant pots for recycling.
We'll share more details soon.
