A woman has been charged after a police officer was injured during an arrest in Sydney's south-west yesterday.
About 10.30am (Wednesday 17 November 2021), officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended a unit on Flynn Crescent, Leumeah, to conduct inquiries into an alleged stealing offence.
Police spoke to the occupant, a 28-year-old woman, who allegedly became aggressive towards officers and bit a male senior constable on the hand.
She was arrested following a brief struggle and taken to Campbelltown Police Station.
During the arrest, a man at the home allegedly armed himself with a shovel and threatened police.
Officers from the Operational Support Group (OSG) and the Dog Unit were called to assist after the man fled the home into nearby bushland. Police continued to conduct inquiries to locate him before he handed himself into Campbelltown Police Station today (Thursday 18 November 2021)
The woman has been charged with larceny, shoplifting, resist officer in execution of duty, and assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm.
She was refused bail and appeared in Campbelltown local court yesterday where she was formally refused bail to reappear in the same court today.
The 39-year-old man has been charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence and resist or hinder police officer in the execution of their duty.
He was refused bail and appeared in Campbelltown Local Court today (Thursday 18 November 2021).
The officer was treated at Campbelltown hospital and he has since been released.
