Police investigate after hospital security guard and nurse assaulted - Westmead

A man remains in hospital after a security guard and a nurse were assaulted at a hospital in Sydney's west yesterday.

Police have been told a man was receiving treatment at Westmead Hospital about 5am (Friday 11 September 2020), when he punched a security guard – a 40-year-old man – in the face and arm.

The man then approached the nurse's station and punched a nurse – a 31-year-old woman – in the back of the head before grabbing hold of her, causing her to fall and strike her head on a door.

The nurse suffered a head injury and was treated before being transferred to a nearby hospital for further treatment. While the security guard suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene.

The 26-year-old man was restrained before being sedated by hospital staff.

Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.
