Police investigate armed robbery at Maroochydore

Police are seeking public assistance following an alleged armed robbery at a convenience store in Maroochydore last night (November 3).

Around 8.20pm last night, two people allegedly entered the Duporth Avenue store and threatened the employee at the counter.

They allegedly demanded cash and cigarettes.

The employee complied and the two people fled on foot onto Duporth Avenue.

No one was physically injured.

A short time later, police located a man allegedly in possession of several packets of cigarettes and a quantity of cash on nearby Anzac Avenue.

Police will also allege a bag containing clothing, shoes and a hammer was located on the ground near where the man was intercepted.

The 23-year-old Maroochydore was taken into custody and later charged with one count of armed robbery in company. He is due before Maroochydore Magistrates Court today (November 4).

Investigations are ongoing into the second person involved.
