Police investigate armed robbery at Ipswich

Detectives from Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a woman following investigations into the armed robbery of a taxi driver this afternoon at Booval.

Police will allege the woman ordered a taxi to take her from Leichhardt to Collingwood Park. During the fare she threatened the driver with a knife demanding he take her to Richlands.

The driver stopped the taxi and the woman robbed the driver of $40 and fled on foot at Booval.

The driver was able to alert nearby police.

The woman was arrested without incident a short time later.

A 24-year-old Leichhardt woman has been charged with one count each of armed robbery and deprivation of liberty.

She has been refused police bail and will appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow, September 6.
