Police investigate following serious collision in Darnum

Trafalgar police members are appealing for witnesses after a collision in Darnum yesterday (19 November), Victoria Police say.

Officers have been told that a white Ford sedan was travelling west along the Princes Highway when the driver allegedly attempted to make a U-turn east of the Darnum overpass about 1.25pm.

The vehicle is believed to have then struck a wire barrier, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and travel into oncoming-eastbound traffic and collide with another car.

The driver of the offending vehicle, a 21-year-old woman from Heyfield, was conveyed to hospital in a serious condition. A 3-month-old boy that was in the backseat of the car was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Three other people were also conveyed to hospital as a result of the collision, including a 24-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman, and a 50-year-old woman, all from Drouin.

Investigators are keen to speak with anyone that may have been in the area at the time or anyone who has dash cam footage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

Any person who may have witnessed the collision or has been affected by road trauma can contact the Road Trauma Support Services on 1300 367 797.
