Police investigate parklands death , SA

Eastern Adelaide CIB Detectives are investigating the death of a woman in the Adelaide south parklands last night, according to SA Police.

Just before 6.30pm on Sunday 16 April, police and ambulance crews were called to Veale Gardens in the south parklands on South Terrace in the city, following reports of a woman in a wheelchair falling into a pond.

On arrival attempts to revive the woman were unsuccessful and she was pronouncde deceased at the scene.

Police Water Operations divers were called into retrieve the body of the 67-year-old woman from the five foot deep water.

Detectives from Eastern Adelaide CIB are investigating the incident and have spoken to her companion who was at the scene.

At this time police need to conduct further investigation to determine if the death is suspicious, a post mortem examination will be conducted later today.

Anyone with information on the incident or anyone that may have seen a woman in a wheelchair in the parklands earlier yesterday evening, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
