A man has been charged over an alleged road rage incident in the state's north.
About 10.35pm last Tuesday (15 September 2026), emergency services responded to reports a white Holden Colorado had crashed into a home on Macgregor Street, West Tamworth, with the driver allegedly leaving the scene prior to the arrival of emergency services.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated an occupant of the home - a 66-year-old woman - who was in a front room at the time of the crash. She was taken to Tamworth Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Officers from Oxley Police District commenced an investigation.
Police were told that shortly before the crash, the driver of the Colorado had allegedly approached a Hyundai Getz that was parked on Ridge Street, West Tamworth.
It will be alleged the man became involved in an argument with the driver of the Getz - a 17-year-old girl - and two passengers - both aged 16 - before the Getz left the scene.
Police will allege that the driver of the Colorado pursued the Getz around surrounding streets before it crashed into the house.
The drivers of the two vehicles are not believed to be known to each other, and the occupants of the Getz were not injured.
Following extensive inquiries, police arrested the driver of the Colorado - a 43-year-old man - at a home on Ridge Street about 11am on Friday (18 September 2026).
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station Police Station and charged with five offences including:
• Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm)
• Drive motor vehicle menaces another with intent
• Attempt stalk/intimidate intend fear of harm (personal)
• Fail to stop and assist after impact cause injury
• Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
The man's Queensland drivers' licence was also suspended by police.
The West Tamworth man was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 5, yesterday (Saturday 19 September 2026) where he was refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday 28 September 2026.
