Police investigate road rage assault - South Yarra

Police are seeking public assistance to help identify a man who may be able to assist them with an investigation into a road rage incident in South Yarra that occurred on 26 January.

Investigators have been told the 56-year-old male victim and his wife were driving their red Honda Civic on Toorak Road about 11am.

It is alleged a man holding a camera tripod stepped out in front of the victim's car forcing him to slam on his brakes.

The man and the victim had a verbal dispute before the man approached the victim's driver side window and assaulted the victim with the tripod causing a minor injury to the victim's hand and minor damage to his car.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, about 183cm tall with short greying hair.

Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or knows the identity of the man to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
