Police Investigate Serious Assault At Wadeye

Northern Territory Police are investigating a serious assault in Wadeye early Thursday morning.

Just before 4am, police received a report that a 28-year-old man had presented to the Wadeye Health Clinic with an arrow wound to his chest.

It is alleged the man was walking along a dirt track near the main oval when a vehicle stopped nearby. A male allegedly exited the vehicle and fired an arrow at the victim before fleeing the area.

The victim suffered a suspected punctured lung and is currently in a stable condition. He is scheduled to be medically evacuated to Royal Darwin Hospital for further treatment.

Police have identified persons of interest, and investigations remain ongoing, with detectives from the Northern Investigations Section travelling to Wadeye today.
