Police investigating after carjacking - Berala

Investigations have commenced after a woman was threatened with a knife during a carjacking in Sydney's west today.

About 2.45pm (Saturday 2 January 2021) a woman was driving in a shopping centre carpark on Woodburn Road, Berala, when a man opened the door and entered the vehicle.

The woman was told to leave the car, a white Toyota Corolla, and was then threatened with a knife

The woman left the vehicle, with her mobile phone and other personal possessions still inside. The man drove off, travelling north along Woodburn Road.

The man is described as Pacific Islander/Maori in appearance, aged between 18-22, with medium length hair, wearing long black pants and possibly a grey top.

The owner was not hurt in the incident and an investigation is now underway by officers from Auburn Police Area Command.
