Sadly, one person has died, and two others are in a critical condition following a two-vehicle crash at Old Beach this afternoon.
About 1.35pm emergency services were called to the scene on East Derwent Highway, near Riviera Drive, where a blue Nissan Qashqai and a silver Great Wall had collided head-on.
Sadly, the woman front seat passenger of the Nissan was declared deceased at the scene.
The woman driver of the Nissan was transported by Ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.
The man driving the Great Wall was also transported by Ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.
The East Derwent Highway was closed between Riviera Drive and Jetty Road while a crash investigation was conducted at the scene. The road has now re-opened.
"Tragically, since Friday we've seen four people die, and four sustain critical injuries in crashes on our roads," said Acting Inspector Amanda Hall.
"While the crash investigations into this crash, and the one at Elizabeth Town on Friday are ongoing, broadly police urge all motorists to be safe every time they travel on our roads."
"Every death on our roads is one too many, and today further families have received the devastating news that their loved one has died or been critically injured in a crash."
"Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones affected."
