Police are investigating a fire incident at Launceston Police Station around 10.50pm last night.
A Molotov cocktail was thrown into the rear carpark of the Launceston Police Station.
Lives were put at serious risk but fortunately nobody was harmed as a result of the incident.
The item self-extinguished a short time later.
Smoke and fire damage were caused to the police station building.
The matter is being investigated and Tasmania Police is interested in hearing from any member of the public who may have witnessed the criminal act or who may have any information as to who was involved.
