Police lay armed robbery charges at Mackay

Detectives from Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man following investigations into two alleged armed robberies in the Mackay area this week.

Police will allege on Tuesday September 19 the man attended a massage business on Nebo Road and threatened a female employee with a firearm before fleeing with a sum of cash and cards.

It will be further alleged by police that later that day, around 4pm, the man attended a home business on Prospect Street and threatened a female worker with a knife before fleeing with a quantity of cash.

Neither of the woman were physically harmed.

Police were able to arrest a 30-year-old Mackay man this morning at a Mackay address without incident.

He has been charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count each of fraud, possessing dangerous drugs and failing to appear in accordance with an undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court this morning.
