Police Lay Arson Charges, Canungra

Detectives have charged a man after he allegedly set fire to a house in Canungra this afternoon.

It will be alleged at 4pm a man attended his house in Riverbend Drive and deliberately set fire to a mattress in a bedroom.

The man left the house and was located by police a short time later on Canungra Street.

The fire spread and destroyed the house. No one else was home at the time.

The 34-year-old Canungra man has been charged with one count of arson (domestic violence offence) and will appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow, 11 June.
