Police lay charges after South Guildford incident

Regional Investigations Unit detectives have arrested a 26-year-old man after an incident in South Guildford yesterday, 29 April 2021.

It is alleged about 4.20pm, officers approached the man who was sitting in a Ford Territory sedan parked at a shopping centre in Bassendean. It is further alleged as police approached the vehicle accelerated heavily through the car park narrowly missing multiple police vehicles and civilian vehicles.

Police followed the vehicle through Bassendean to Kalamunda Road before they ceased following the vehicle due to the weather. A short time later the vehicle was located with extensive front-end damage after it had hit a limestone fence outside a brick company on Kalamunda Road in South Guildford. The collision caused extensive damage to the fence.

It will be alleged the 26-year-old man fled the scene on foot, and the 28-year-old female driver stayed in the vehicle.

Detectives continued their inquiries and the man was located about 10.40pm last night at a residence in High Wycombe. It is alleged the man jumped the rear fence into a neighbouring property before being apprehended.
