Police lay charges - Aggravated robbery - East Arnhem Land

Northern Territory Police have charged three men in relation to a robbery at a business on Groote Eylandt.

At around 11pm on 23 November, the men, aged 19, 20 and 24, allegedly entered the business, threatened staff and stole alcohol before fleeing the area. Following an investigation by officers from the Serious Crime Squad and general duties, the three were arrested and charged with:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Aggravated assault

In addition to those charges, the 19-year-old was also charged with:

  • Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • Drive unlicensed
  • Drive unregistered motor vehicle
  • Drive uninsured motor vehicle

The three men were remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on 19 January 2022.
