Drug and Firearm Squad officers, with the assistance of Joondalup Detectives, have charged two people with several serious offences following a traffic stop and subsequent execution of search warrant at a home in Merriwa.
On Sunday, 15 February 2026, police will allege the man was driving a grey Audi sedan that was stopped and searched, during which a significant quantity of prohibited drugs was located. Both he and his female passenger were arrested and taken into police custody.
On Monday, 16 February 2026, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Pennine Pass. During the search, police located several items of interest, including a homemade clandestine laboratory police will allege was set up for the purpose of manufacturing drugs. A firearm, ammunition and cash was also located and seized.
A 37-year-old Merriwa man was charged with:
• 3 x Manufacture Prohibited Drug
• 1 x Possess trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine with intent to sell or supply
• 1 x Possess Prohibited Drugs with intent to sell or supply
• 1 x Cultivate Prohibited Plant
• 1 x Possessed a prohibited firearm or major part with serial number unlawfully interfered with
• 1 x Possess prohibited weapon
• 1 x Carry controlled weapon
• 1 x Deal with property suspected to be proceeds of an offence
• 1 x Possess Prohibited Drug
• 1 x Possess or acquire ammunition without a licence or permit
• 1 x Possess drug paraphernalia
His bail was refused and he is next due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 17 February 2026.
A 30-year-old O'Connor woman was charged with one count of 'Possession of Prohibited Drugs with Intent to Sell or Supply'. Her bail was refused and she was remanded in custody, next due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Monday, 30 March 2026.
