Police lay charges over drug offences in Darwin 3 July

Drug and Organised Crime Detectives have charged two men, aged 46 and 42, for multiple drug offences relating to the schedule 1 dangerous drug, methamphetamine.

Detectives analysed suspicious behaviour from a 46-year-old travelling from Victoria sending parcels to a residence in Nightcliff whilst he flew on a commercial flight.

On Friday 30 June 2023, a search warrant was conducted on an intercepted parcel and 770 grams of methamphetamine was seized.

A further search warrant was conducted at a 42-year-olds residence, who is believed to be known to the 46-year-old. A further 3.5 grams of methamphetamine was seized, along with other drug paraphernalia.

The 46-year-old was charged with:

• Supply Schedule 1 drug - commercial quantity

• Possess Schedule 1 drug - commercial quantity

• Supply Schedule 1 drug - less than commercial quantity

• Possess Schedule 1 drug - traffickable quantity

• Possess thing to administer drug

• Dealing in identification material

The 42-year-old was charged with:

• Possess Schedule 1 drug - traffickable quantity

• Possess thing to administer drug

Both men were remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today and are expected to appear again at a later date.
