Police lay charges over property offences in Darwin 29 December

Northern Territory Police have charged two youths after two aggravated robberies in Parap yesterday.

At 4:40pm, 7 offenders entered a business on the Stuart Highway, Parap, armed with rocks. The group allegedly threatened an employee before stealing a number of items and fleeing the scene.

At 5pm, the same group is alleged to have entered a business on Douglas Street, Parap. They again threatened an employee before stealing items and cash.

A short time later, general duties police located 4 males in possession of the stolen property.

Strike Force Trident have charged one 11-year-old with two counts of aggravated robbery while another 11-year-old was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of criminal damage.

One was remanded to appear today while the other was bailed to appear on 16 January 2023.

Two children were released into the care of responsible adults.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said "This sort of behaviour has no place within our community. Police continue to urge anyone who witnesses this sort of behaviour to make contact on 131 444 or in an emergency 000."
