Police lay charges over Richmond collision

Detectives from Major Collision Investigation Unit have charged a woman over a fatal collision which occurred in Richmond last year.

Investigators allege a man in his 50s was crossing Bridge Rd about 9.30am on Friday 12 June when he was struck by a car trying to reverse parallel park.

He fell onto the roadway, sustained serious head injuries and was transported to hospital where he later died.

The driver of the car stopped and assisted police with their enquiries.

Today a 35-year-old Hawthorn woman was charged with dangerous driving causing death.

She has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 11 August.
