Police lay drug trafficking charge at Darra

Acacia Ridge detectives have charged a man with trafficking dangerous drugs after he allegedly sold heroin in the Darra area.

Police executed a search warrant at a Cintra Street house in Darra and it will be alleged they located a quantity of dangerous drugs.

It will be further alleged that police located a quantity of drugs at the search of a related restaurant on Darra Station Road.

Police also recovered over $1 million dollars worth of stolen property including tools, high-end designer fashion clothing and accessories, electrical goods, alcohol, firearms and a substantial sum of cash.

A 61-year-old Darra man has been charged with one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and three counts of possession of dangerous drugs (heroin).

He has also been charged with possession of property used in the commission of a crime, possession of property obtained from trafficking a dangerous drug (cash) and receiving tainted property.

He will reappear in the Richland Magistrates Court on November 8.

The arrest is part of Operation Uniform Zythos targeting drug trafficking in the Durack and Darra areas.

A multi-agency collaborative investigation identified a sophisticated syndicate where drugs were being sold to a large network of customers.

It was identified that some customers were paying for drugs with stolen property including tools, high-end designer fashion clothing, and electrical goods which were then on-sold to the community through local markets.

Investigations are ongoing including identifying owners of the stolen property.
