Police make arrest after fatal hit-run collision in Cobungra

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a cyclist died following a hit-run collision in Cobungra this morning.

The man was riding a bicycle on the Great Alpine Road when he was struck by a vehicle believed to be an orange Ford Ranger about 8.35am.

The cyclist, a 62-year-old Queensland man, sadly died at the scene.

The vehicle allegedly left the scene and was last seen driving toward Omeo.

A 25-year-old Swifts Creek man has been arrested and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

An orange Ford Ranger has also been located.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations are ongoing.
