Police make arrest after pursuit in north-east suburbs, South Australia

A man has been arrested following a theft from a business at Klemzig this morning.

Police will allege that about 3.45am on Friday 15 March, patrols responded to an alarm activation at a business on O.G. Road.

A Holden sedan was seen speeding away from the area without number plates, and police briefly pursued the vehicle before terminating the pursuit.

The sedan then collided with a light pole near the intersection of Ascot Avenue and North East Road at Vale Park. The driver and sole occupant ran away from the car, after he abandoned it in Taunton Road, Manningham.

Police set up cordons around the area, and he was arrested soon after in Collingrove Avenue, Broadview. Police found copper piping inside the car that had been stolen from the business premises.

A 44-year-old man from Ovingham was charged with numerous offences including being unlawfully on premises, theft, drive dangerously to escape a police pursuit and driving unlicenced.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
