Police make arrest - Aggravated robbery - Leanyer

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man after an aggravated robbery in Leanyer on Saturday.

Just before 6pm, police received reports an unknown offender, armed with a knife, had threatened a man near a bus stop on Vanderlin Drive, stealing numerous small items and fleeing onto a bus.

General duties officers attended the scene and detectives from Serious Crime began investigations.

Detectives worked throughout Sunday and identified the alleged offender.

Earlier this morning, a 22-year-old man was arrested without incident and is expected to be charged with Aggravated Robbery later today. The stolen items have also since been recovered to be returned to the victim.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Kren said "This was a cowardly assault and our members have not stopped since it occurred.

"Police commend the quick actions of the victim in quickly informing us of the robbery as that allowed us to immediately begin investigations and to identify and locate the alleged offender.
