Police make arrest - Pursuit - Greater Darwin

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man over the weekend following multiple pursuits through the Palmerston and rural areas.

Around 2:30am 22 October, police observed a stolen White MG hatchback travelling on Chung Wah Terrace. The vehicle had been involved in pursuits in the Palmerston area the previous night.

Police engaged in multiple pursuits with the stolen motor vehicle throughout the night, with each pursuit being terminated due the vehicles dangerous manner of driving.

CCTV operators tracked the vehicle in the vicinity of the Kirkland Road area. General duties, Strike Force Trident and TRG officers successfully set up a tyre deflation device near the railway line of Kirkland Road and Woodlake Boulevard.

Upon the vehicles tyres being deflated, the vehicle crossed the wrong side of the road, and onto a bike path where it collided with a tree.

Police apprehended the driver who was not injured.

The man has been charged with:

  • Dangerous driving during pursuit
  • Unlawful use of motor vehicle,
  • Drive under the influence of dangerous drug
  • Aggravated assault

He has been remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court 25 October 2023.
