Police make arrest - Theft of Motorcycles

Detectives have charged a 15-year-old youth regarding the theft of numerous motorcycles across the Hobart, Glenorchy and Bridgewater areas.

Police will allege that the offending spanned over the past two months and, in some of the cases, involved the theft of expensive motorcycles that were easily accessible and were not secured with secondary security features.

The youth was charged with several offences, including Attempted Motor Vehicle Stealing, Motor Vehicle Stealing, Burglary, and Stealing. The youth was detained for court.

Police would like to remind members of the public to record VIN numbers, insure their valuables and secure them as best they can. Police recommend owners of motorcycles in general invest in chain locks with secure anchor points.

Anyone with information in relation to the theft of motorcycles is asked to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
