Police make arrests - Property offences in Darwin 6 September

Northern Territory Police have arrested four youths and an adult in relation to property offences in Darwin last night.

At 8:30pm, a 36-year-old man was returning to his vehicle parked at a shopping centre in Casuarina when he was approached by two youths who demanded money before assaulting the man and stealing his car.

The youths then drove to a restaurant in Frances Bay with three more passengers where they allegedly attempted to break in before driving to a hotel in Winnellie, where they allegedly forced entry and stole a large amount of alcohol.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, "Shortly before midnight, members from Strike Force Trident, Dog Operations and General Duties located and arrested five males at a residence in Malak.

"The alleged offenders, aged 13, 13, 16, 17 and 20, are currently in custody and police expect to lay charges later today."
