Police make arrests - Sexual assault in Katherine

Northern Territory Police have arrested two offenders in relation to a sexual assault in Katherine in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The victim had attended two locations with three males before all three allegedly assaulted her at a residence in Katherine South. The 18-year-old woman contacted police immediately after the incident.

Police yesterday arrested two of the alleged offenders - a 16-year-old and a 20-year-old. Another 20-year-old has been identified and remains outstanding.

Charges are yet to be laid.

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Lawson said, "We know who the outstanding offender is and he is actively avoiding police. All our available resources are directed toward his arrest and it will only be a matter of time. We do not believe he poses a current risk to public safety."
