Police make arrests - Unlawful use of motor vehicle - Alawa

Northern Territory Police have arrested three youths in relation to a stolen vehicle yesterday.

At 3:20am, a Toyota Rav4 was stolen from a residence on Hurtle Street, Alawa. Electronic monitoring identified a 14-year-old female at the location at the time of the offence.

Later that morning, investigators observed the vehicle travelling along the Stuart Highway towards Katherine.

Strike Force Cerberus investigators along with local general duties were deployed to intercept the vehicle, which they located abandoned with three youths fleeing into nearby bushland.

A cordon was established and after a short foot pursuit, all three were arrested without incident.

A 15-year-old female was charged with:

  • Aggravated unlawful entry
  • Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • Stealing
  • Serious breach of bail

She was remanded to appear in court today.

A 17-year-old male was charged with:

  • Damage to property
  • Serious breach of bail

He was remanded to appear in court today.

A 14-year-old female was released pending further investigations.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said "These arrests were the result of excellent collaborative work from Strike Force Trident, Strike Force Cerberus and general duties.

"Investigations are continuing and police expect further charges to be laid once forensic work is completed."
