Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investing after a serious hit-run collision in St Albans on Thursday night.
Emergency services were called to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the Western Ring Road between Ballarat Road and Furlong Road about 11.30pm.
It is understood a Honda sedan crossed over several lanes before colliding with a Great Wall SUV.
The rear male passenger of the Honda was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver and front passenger of the vehicle fled the scene.
The occupants of the Great Wall did not sustain any serious injuries.
Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
