Police Responding To Fatal Traffic Crash At Gumlu

A man has died in hospital following a serious traffic crash that occurred at Gumlu on 14 July.

Around 1.30pm, a silver Mitsubishi ASX was travelling north on the Bruce Highway when it left the roadway and crashed into a dry creek bed near Gates Creek Bridge.

The driver, a 69-year-old Howard woman, and her passenger, a 91-year-old Howard man, were both transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The 91-year-old man was later transferred to Townsville University Hospital, where he died on 2 August as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver has since been released from hospital.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
