CCTV Rebate Trial Supports Safer City

City of Perth residents and business owners will soon be able to apply for up to $500 towards the installation of new or upgraded CCTV systems, as part of a new initiative to help make local streets and neighbourhoods safer.

The City's $100,000 CCTV rebate trial will help eligible residents and businesses improve security at their properties while contributing to safer streets and public spaces for everyone.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the initiative was another practical way the City was investing in community safety.

"Everyone deserves to feel safe in our city, whether they live here, run a business or are simply visiting," Mr Reynolds said.

"We're committed to making Perth a safe and welcoming place for everyone, and that means finding practical ways to make our streets and neighbourhoods safer.

"This program gives residents and business owners a helping hand to improve security at their own properties, while contributing to the safety of the wider community. It's a great example of how we can work together to make a difference."

The program offers reimbursement of up to 30 per cent of eligible installation costs, capped at $500. Those who have installed or upgraded CCTV systems in the six months before the program opens may also be eligible.

The trial is open to eligible residential and commercial properties across the City of Perth, with rebates available for CCTV systems that meet the City's installation and technical requirements.

Eligible systems must include a camera overlooking a public area and be registered with WA Police through its Cam-Map initiative, helping support broader community safety efforts.

The rebate trial complements the City's existing investment in community safety, including Ranger patrols, CCTV monitoring and partnerships with WA Police.

Applications open on Monday 2 November 2026 and close on 30 June 2027, or earlier if the $100,000 funding allocation is exhausted.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to check the full eligibility criteria before applying or arranging an installation.
