Global law firm Ashurst Perkins Coie announces the appointment of Ying Wang in its Tech Transactions practice, based in Singapore. Ying brings two decades of experience advising clients on technology, digital and fintech matters, based in Singapore and working across Asia-Pacific. Ying will be a partner following local regulatory approval.
Ying's practice covers technology transactions, intellectual property, technology and data-related regulation, as well as funding and M&A involving technology businesses. She advises financial institutions and technology companies on the adoption of AI and data governance across multiple regulatory regimes, and tokenisation of real-world assets. She also advises payments and digital asset businesses on licensing, compliance and product counselling across APAC, working with colleagues and local counsel. Her experience of blockchain-related matters spans e-commerce, digital media, games, music, enterprise software and commodities.
Jean Woo, Singapore office managing partner, commented: "We are delighted to welcome Ying. Investments in AI, digital infrastructure and emerging technology continue to grow across Asia and regulators throughout the region are responding with an increasingly active agenda. Ying's arrival gives our clients dedicated technology, data, digital assets and payments capabilities on the ground in Singapore, and her collaborative approach will create opportunities across our practices in the region."
Emma Butler, APAC head of Tech Transactions, added: "Financial institutions and technology companies across Asia are adopting AI and digital products at pace, and they need advisers who understand both commercial opportunity and the regulatory position. Ying's combination of regulatory and transactional experience is well suited to help clients do both."
Ying said: "I am pleased to join Ashurst Perkins Coie. Clients increasingly need joined-up advice across technology, data, regulation and transactions in multiple jurisdictions. Ashurst Perkins Coie's global platform will allow me to support clients on a broader range of cross-border matters, and I look forward to collaborating with colleagues in Singapore and across Asia to help clients navigate a fast-changing digital landscape."
The appointment reflects Ashurst Perkins Coie's focus on sector-led growth, its continued investment in tech capabilities and its ongoing commitment to expanding its presence across Asia.
