Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Mamu

A man has died following a two vehicle crash at Mamu, south-west of Innisfail, yesterday evening (July 17).

Preliminary information indicates around 6.45pm a white Hyundai Accent and white Toyota RAV4 were involved in a crash on the Palmerston Highway.

The male driver of the Hyundai Accent sustained critical injuries and passed away at Innisfail Hospital.

The 19-year-old male passenger was airlifted to Cairns Hospital in a critical condition.

A 61-year-old Tolga woman and 69-year-old Tolga man travelling in the Toyota RAV4 both sustained injuries and were transported to Innisfail Hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
