Police seek help to find missing man at Aurukun

Police are seeking public assistance to help locate a 60-year-old Aurukun man who has been missing since Wednesday August 3.

Around 4pm, Burt Wikmunea was last seen at his Enyan Circuit home.

Police and family are concerned for his safety as he suffers from a medical condition.

He is described as Aboriginal, 170cm tall with a skinny build, a white bushy beard and white curly hair, wearing a green t-shirt and black shorts.

Police, with the assistance of State Emergency Service volunteers from Cairns and Weipa, along with other volunteers, friends and family, began searching for Mr Wikmunea yesterday.

Police are urging Aurukun residents to check their yards and houses for Mr Wikmunea and to contact police with any information that may assist in locating him.

Police and volunteers continue to search for the missing man.
