Police are appealing for information as investigations continue into a road rage incident last week in the state's south.
Officers attached to Wollongong Police District commenced investigations following a report of an alleged road rage incident on the Princess Highway, Helensburgh, on Thursday 24 July 2025.
Police were told about 7pm that evening, a 30-year-old man was driving his silver Ford fiesta north on the Princess Highway, Helensburgh, when he overtook a Toyota Hiace van which began tailgating the driver. A red Mazda 6 then squeezed in between the two vehicles and began tailgating the Ford Fiesta as well.
When the Ford Fiesta changed lanes, the Mazda vehicle allegedly approached alongside it, before the driver pointed an item resembling a firearm toward the Ford driver.
The Mazda continued through toward Sutherland.
The driver of the Mazda is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged in his late 20s, of large build, with a black curly skin-fade haircut and stubble on his chin.
The vehicle is described as a red Mazda 6 sedan with dust covering the skirting and the roof.
The alleged firearm is described as a black pistol.
Police are urging anyone who may have been driving in that area at the time and may have dashcam footage/CCTV of the van to call police or Crime Stoppers.
