Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses relating to an incident that occurred in Tennant Creek overnight.
Between the hours of 7:30pm and 8pm, an unknown male has engaged in a conversation with a young child at the front of her residence, before leading the child into a nearby abandoned vehicle.
Police attended the scene immediately and a crime scene was declared.
Detectives from the Regional Crime Division have taken carriage of the matter, and are calling for public assistance to help identify the alleged offender.
The offender is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, tall slim build, with curly hair, wearing a red shirt and in his 20's.
