Police seize firearms after intercept in Shepparton

Police conducting routine patrols in Shepparton have arrested two men and uncovered allegedly stolen firearms.

Police conducted a check on two males observed seated in a vehicle on Westmorland Crescent about 4.50am on 22 July.

A search of the vehicle uncovered two allegedly stolen firearms, believed to have been stolen in 2018 and 2019.

Search warrants were then executed on two properties in Shepparton where another three firearms and drugs were located.

A 41-year-old Shepparton man has been released pending summons in relation to drug charges.

A 30-year-old Shepparton man was charged with attempt to traffick firearms, possess handguns, possess unregistered longarm, possess ammunition, handle stolen goods, possess methamphetamines, possess cannabis and possess proceeds of crime.

He will face a remand hearing tonight.
