Police update 1: Charges, North Ipswich Homicide

Ipswich detectives have charged a man with murder following an alleged overnight dispute that resulted in the death of a 53-year-old man at North Ipswich.

A 33-year-old Woodridge man has been charged with one count each of murder, assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence related) and wilful damage.

The man has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on December 28.

Homicide, North Ipswich

Detectives are investigating the death of a man at a North Ipswich property overnight.

Officers were called to Hall Street just prior to midnight, where the body of a 53-year-old man was located in the front yard of a home.

Initial investigations suggest an altercation took place between two men which resulted in one being fatally wounded.

A crime scene was established in the early hours of this morning with scenes of crime and scientific officers in attendance.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at an Edwards Street address in Woodridge at 5am and is assisting police with their inquiries.
