Police update: Abscond from correctional custody at Townsville

Police have located a 28-year-old man Jensen tonight after he allegedly absconded from a Townsville low security correctional centre around 7.30am, March 6.

Police will allege, shortly after 10pm last night, the man became trapped when a stolen car he was driving along Texas Road left the road and crashed into the front yard of a home.

The vehicle had allegedly been stolen from a Deeragun address a short time before.

The man was freed from the vehicle by emergency services and transported to the Townsville University Hospital where he remains in police custody.

Investigations are continuing.
