Police update: Charges - Domestic Violence - Borroloola

Northern Territory Police have charged a 21-year-old man with multiple offences in relation to a domestic violence related assault in Borroloola last week.

An 18-year-old female was located last Thursday at a residence in Borroloola with a serious head injury, facial fractures and other broken bones. She remains in Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition.

Detectives have now charged the 21-year-old with:

  • 2 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Breach domestic violence order
  • 1 x Escape custody

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Superintendent Kirsten Engels said "This was an absolutely horrendous assault and police are expecting to lay further charges as investigations continue.

"Although detectives have spoken to a large number of people, it is believed there are other witnesses to the incident who have not yet come forward and we would ask those people to speak to the police and help with this investigation. You are urged to make contact through your local station or on 131 444."
