Police update: Man charged with acts intended to maim at Beaudesert

Detectives from Jimboomba Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man with acts intended to maim/disfigure/disable after a man sustained serious arm and leg injuries following an alleged assault involving a machete last night (April 18).

It will be alleged at around 9pm an armed man attended a Stirling Street address where he was involved in a verbal altercation with a 30-year-old man, which escalated in a physical assault with the machete.

The man then fled the address.

Other occupants of the house provided immediate first aid to the injured man while awaiting emergency services.

The victim was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries.

Police located a man a short distance away from the address and he was taken into custody without incident.

A 44-year-old Beaudesert man has been denied police bail and remanded in custody to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow on four charges which also include going armed so as to cause fear, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and contravention of a domestic violence order.
