Police update: Serious crash at Chinchilla

Police in Chinchilla have charged a man and teenage male as a result of an appeal for public assistance to a serious traffic crash in May.

On May 31, police responded to the crash on Wambo Street, where they located a Toyota Landcruiser after it had rolled through a fence into a house critically injuring two female passengers, one of whom had to be airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

With the help of the witnesses, investigators were able to identify a second vehicle, a Toyota Prado, allegedly involved in the crash.

As a result of investigations, an 18-year-old man allegedly behind the wheel of the Landcruiser that crashed has been charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.

A 17-year-old local allegedly driving the second vehicle (Toyota Prado), has been charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to remain at the scene of a crash and obtain help.

The man will appear in the Chinchilla Magistrates Court on September 8, while the boy will appear in the Chinchilla Childrens Court on September 7.
