Polish-born International To Join Perth Bears

The Perth Bears have landed their fifth Test player with Polish-born England International Mikolaj Oledzki to join the club on a three-year deal to start in 2027.

Born in Gdansk in Poland, Oldedzki has played 199 First-Class games for Featherstone Rovers, Bradford Bulls and now Leeds Rhinos.

The 27-year-old migrated to England as a nine-year-old and has earned nine caps for the England national team - most recently in the 2025 Ashes Series.

"Mik is a dynamic player who has established himself as one of the consistent prop forwards in the Super League competition," Perth Bears Head Coach Mal Meninga said.

"I've admired his game for a long time, and I am thrilled to welcome Mik and his young family to Western Australia in 2027."

Oldezki is the third England international to sign with the Bears, joining Leeds Rhinos teammates Harry Newman and James McDonnell in its Top 30 squad.

"It's been an ambition of mine to test myself in the NRL and I am delighted to have the opportunity to do it with Mal Meninga and the Perth Bears," Oldezki said.

"The roster is starting to take shape and it's exciting to think about playing in front of our fans in Perth. I've been told they are a loyal and passionate group.

"Most of all, I'm excited about the opportunity to bring my family over to Western Australia.

"Growing up in Poland I would never have thought I'd have the opportunity to live in Perth, but rugby league has given me that chance. I love this game and will be giving it my all for the Bears in 2027 and beyond."

Perth Bears General Manager of Football David Sharpe said the addition of Oldezki will bring even more firepower to a forward pack that already features three international representatives.

"Mik is a devastating ball runner and exceptional defender who is a very exciting addition to our roster," Sharpe said.

"I'm very happy with our recruitment strategy and am confident there will be a few more announcements over the coming weeks.

"We also have our Tracks Academy set to launch in WA next month and a host of other initiatives with the North Sydney Bears and the Brisbane Tigers set to be unveiled.

"It's an exciting time for our club, the people of Western Australia and also the proud fans of the North Sydney Bears."
