The University of Western Australia and the Population Health Research Network (PHRN) Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Rebecca Glauert as its new PHRN Chief Executive.
As Scientific Director of the Raine Study, Director of the Australian Child and Youth Wellbeing Atlas and Principal Research Fellow at UWA's School of Population and Global Health, Associate Professor Glauert is passionate about translating data-informed evidence into life-changing health and wellbeing interventions. She will start on 1 July 2025.
"I am excited and honoured to join a nationally significant research infrastructure organisation and look forward to leading the talented team at the PHRN into the next chapter," Associate Professor Glauert said.
Associate Professor Glauert succeeds Dr Merran Smith, PHRN's inaugural Chief Executive, who is retiring. Under Dr Smith's leadership, the network has grown into an internationally recognised and respected research infrastructure, supporting vital health and human services research across Australia.
PHRN Board Chair Professor Ian Smith said Dr Smith had done an outstanding job.
"Her impact has been extraordinary, and she will be missed," Mr Smith said.
"However, we are delighted to have found a very worthy replacement and are excited and looking forward to Associate Professor Glauert joining and leading the PHRN team."
PHRN is a national research infrastructure hosted by UWA with core funding support from the Australian Government's National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy program.
Its focus is the operation and development of national research infrastructure to provide users with secure access to linked population data for important health and human services research.
