Pregnant and want to quit smoking?

iSISTAQUIT is a wrap-around support for pregnant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who are wanting to quit smoking. It is a blended model of community support and traditional treatment by healthcare workers.

The program supports a new Closing the Gap target to increase the number of babies born at a healthy weight by 2031. There are now 23 sites nationally participating in the training.

Tobacco smoking is the major contributor to low birthweight in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander babies. Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are motivated to quit smoking during pregnancy, but there are challenges to achieve this. iSISTAQUIT works in a culturally safe way to assist Indigenous women navigate health and wellbeing systems so they can quit smoking.
